The MINI JCW Team Scores Three Podiums at Sebring

MINI USA and the MINI John Cooper Works Team did everything but win in its second-to-last race weekend of the 2023 SRO TC America at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida, earning three podiums before the series championship at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in two weeks.

Clay Williams drove the #60 MINI JCW PRO to a dual-podium weekend, securing second place in both Race 1 and Race 2. Williams’ teammate, Cristian Perocarpi, also secured a podium spot, claiming third place in Race 2 in the #37 MINI JCW PRO. Clay Williams leads the Driver’s Championship in the TC class, with Perocarpi in fourth place. MINI USA leads the manufacturer’s championship.

Luis Perocarpi, team owner of LAP Motorsports, said, “I am proud of Clay and Cristian’s performance this weekend and all season long. We look forward to racing in front of our home crowd in two weeks and aiming for championship trophies.”

The Brownsburg, Indiana-based LAP Motorsports team, operating the MINI JCW Team, received support from four qualified MINI Dealer technicians during practice, qualifying, and race days as part of the MINI Technician Race Crew Program. These technicians, hailing from dealerships across the U.S., including MINI of Tucson, MINI of Orlando, and MINI of Dallas, provided vital assistance throughout the Sebring weekend. The race team relies on the technicians’ day-to-day MINI expertise to enhance their on-track performance.

The team finished as runner-up for the Manufacturer’s Championship in both the Touring Car (TC) and Touring Car A (TCA) classes last season. Clay Williams, driver of the #60 MINI JCW Pro, also secured second place in the 2022 season’s Driver’s Championship in the TC class.

The 2023 SRO TC America series championship is scheduled for October 5–8 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
