The MINI JCW Team Races for Three Titles This Weekend at Indy (Livestream)

MINI USA and the MINI John Cooper Works Team are gearing up for the last race weekend of the 2023 SRO TC America season at the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. They’ve got a shot at snagging championships in all three categories – Driver, Manufacturer’s, and Team Championships. This opportunity comes after a successful weekend at Sebring International Raceway, where the team scored three podium finishes in the final race weekend before the championship showdown.

Clay Williams will be behind the wheel of the #60 MINI JCW PRO, and he could clinch this season’s Driver Championship by simply finishing better than P4 in each of the races this weekend. Williams’ teammate Cristian Perocarpi will be handling the #37 MINI JCW PRO, with his sights set on outpacing Jeff Ricca in the #78 Genracer/Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N in both races. Winning these races will not only help MINI USA secure the Manufacturer’s Championship but also bag the Team Championship for the MINI JCW Race Team and LAP Motorsports. Williams can also lend a hand in securing these two championship titles by beating Ricca in both races. Adding to the excitement, P.J. Groenke will join Williams and Perocarpi this weekend driving the #62 MINI JCW, alongside Bruce Myrehn in the #63 MINI JCW, both in the Touring Car A (TCA) class.

Luis Perocarpi, the team owner at LAP Motorsports, chimed in, “Our team has been giving it their all this season, racing hard every weekend, and now we’re poised to sweep the championship categories at our home track and bring home some championship hardware. It’s going to be a nail-biter, and our team is all set to give it their best until the checkered flag drops.”

LAP Motorsports, based in Brownsburg, Ind., which runs the MINI JCW Team, will have some extra muscle this weekend with three skilled MINI Dealer technicians joining the crew. They’ll be lending a hand during practice, qualifying, and race days as part of the MINI Technician Race Crew Program. These technicians hail from dealers across the U.S., including Century MINI and MINI of Buffalo. Their expertise is crucial as they bring their day-to-day MINI know-how to the track.

Last season, the team finished as the runner-up for the Manufacturer’s Championship in both the Touring Car (TC) and Touring Car A (TCA) classes. Clay Williams, the driver of the #60 MINI JCW Pro, also secured a 2nd place finish in the 2022 Driver’s Championship in the TC class.
